Initially, I wasn't fond of logical algorithms or using logic. I was more passion driven and was under the belief that anything was possible if one 'felt' it. Some may even assign this feeling to a gut reaction, gut feeling, gut instinct. The human mind likes to assign sense to things even if they are nonsensical to reduce or eliminate doubt in the mind.
When one is doubtful or uncertain, it wastes valuable time in processing. In the wild, where split decisions have to be made, these additional seconds can prove fatal. This is why many humans who have issues with dealing with things may just shy away from attention and tuck themselves away which is probably safest thing to do. If you ever hang out with street cats or guys familiar with combat, they don't really talk much. They put that work in and maybe have a discussion about why they inverted someone's face over a beer or a blunt. Shying away from attention is one of the safest things to do when it comes to survival if one simply cannot process quickly enough but it is a rather large hurdle when it comes to social and personal development. Introspection can only go so far and we need input from others who will often see things in us that we overlook. These things can be areas we need to tighten up in or talents that we need to allow more sunlight upon to flourish and take full maturity.

The thing that a lot of people who 'feel' have an issue with when it comes to pattern recognition and algorithms is that algorithms are impersonal and unbiased. Game is a social science but I think has important leanings on pattern recognition and allows one to make personal tweaks. Understanding of these patterns enables one to also recognise strengths and weaknesses within oneself and impart skills and techniques onto others.
In terms of personal pattern recognition, I have a habit of smiling when I'm talking to pretty lizards in a club. I also tend to bob slightly when the music is good. Lizards can view it as me being overly excited to talk to her and thus being a cornball. Outside of North America, this is not a problem but within major cities full of posers, this can prove to be practically fatal in the club game. Awareness of these patterns enables me to take a mental recount when encountering a lizard in a club and make a conscious decision not to smile too much or sway too much. This is logic, pattern recognition.
As stated before, I had a moderate aversion to logic. I didn't understand it and hated that life could be so predictable. I disliked when people claimed they could figure me out based on logic as I enjoyed being convoluted and sporadic. However, I didn't enjoy when a lizard'made a convoluted and sporadic decision not to have sex with me. Like many artsy farts (of which I am one) I disliked logic because it was so predictable and many people like the fantasy of uncertainty in the chase. There is something about the surprise of success that makes many feel exhilarated and predictive analysis can sour the sweetness of the sex stew for many.

Although I claimed I had an aversion to logic, I was actually always quite a logical person. I enjoyed English but I was in the top class in my secondary school back in London, England for Mathematics. My class were able to take our GCSE's in Maths one year before it was due.
The field that I'm currently in forces me to use logic. For me to deliver in my current job, using logic and adhering to a methodology is ABSOLUTELY essential. These principles do not care about personal feelings. They are not as intuitive as a social science i.e. selling products or services to people or marketing. Logic is a cold animal that operates everytime regardless of environment, circumstance or bias. To execute logical steps, there is a methodology to every approach and not adhering to that methodology leads to an average failure. Once one is aware of this logic and have tried and tested it, they have a parameter against which to operate and know when they have not executed or done enough to rule a situation out. 'Naturals', experts or vets in the game have internalised these steps and execute them subsconsciously. Without a deeper self awareness or introspective enough to understand what they are doing, this particular group may not be able to impart this methodology and reasoning those new in the game. Regardless of whether they are able to or not, they have to be followed to maximise effort. Noobs have to pay careful attention to executing each step. My personal understanding of the logic and methodology has enabled me to find this in others and upon questioning and or observing them, I realise that they execute these steps every time bumping up their averages for success.
It applies to game. Some guys claim they want to be playas but they just looking to 'boo up a thang'. They get butt hurt when they get pumped and dumped, Amokwa made reference to this on the podcast with TravellerKai (Amokwa begins his rant at 1:08:34)

So step one is be honest with yourself about why you are getting into the game. Realise the pros and cons with each approach. They do say 'be careful what you ask for'. I have asked for certain things personally and I smile when I get them. I've personally asked for great weather, a symmetrical muscular body and a slew of lizards with crazy onions. I'm receiving the blessing and I dare not complain!
For instance, a lizard that whose vajayjay I was ransacking about twice a week, broke up with me about a month ago. In the past, despite the fact I'm running a small harem, I would always be a bit offended when it happened even though it was in my best interest for it to occur. Sometimes these lizards occupy too much of my hunting time and then they gotta go. On this particular instance, I didn't give a rats really. Once I pop the cooch, I've won even if they don't realise it. It's hardly any that I have met that have any re-use value. Either the value is dropping or once I realise what the standards I should measure them up against, they fall painfully short. Some may see it as a cold world but there are gems out there and a real lion shouldn't really falter.
A systematic approach has to be taken to it. The geographical sweep of targets should be broad and consistent so that one doesn't only turn on their radar in certain locations. This gives enough data (numbers) to actively screen without bias without deluding oneself to 'force the formula'. Pass everything through equally, allow for circumstance and rule out bias.

An important caveat that I have learned in game is to be prepared. My <insert family member> advised me to always be on point everytime I leave the home as you never know who you are going to see. For those of you who live in dead cities or operate entirely off of social circle game, this may not be applicable. However, for those who are up and coming and live in a big busy metropolis, you can maximise on returns by always coming out on sharp.
This also means having your crib on point or near enough to being on point so that if you have to bring a lizard back, she won't be deterred by a grungy place. Lizards have a delicate internal system and they have to pay careful attention to disarray as this can easily cause an infection. I do have an issue with keeping my lair in order (although hygienically it's clean, it's just the order of paperwork and books at times). However it's something I'm working on and I'm certain it's cost me slams as my demographic is almost exclusively black lizards who are particularly keen on an orderly place. Even hood lizards are finicky about this (even the ones who come out of their house smelling of chicken that was fried in horrible reused canola oil).
Keep your kitchen sink clean and wiped down, your plates set away neatly and keep your bathroom sink, tub and toilet clean. I've had a lizard do a quick once over my place like a home inspector before deciding to spread out and let me hit those guts.
Always being prepared helps with timing as you don't always know when opportunity will be there and sometimes you were just outside, tossing the rubbish out and you are able to penetrate a hot reptile just there on vacation cos you were ready. If you were sloppy at the time or your mind wasn't ready, you could have passed up an easy smash.
